Worked example
What it makes
Three questions from a easier quiz on volume, with the answers and worked solutions the quiz shows after checking.
1. A cuboid is 2 cm long, 9 cm wide and 11 cm high. What is its volume?
Options: 278 cm³ · 18 cm³ · 198 cm³ · 22 cm³
Answer: 198 cm³
Volume = length × width × height = 2 × 9 × 11 = 198 cm³.
2. A cuboid is 4 cm long, 4 cm wide and 4 cm high. What is its volume?
Options: 12 cm³ · 16 cm³ · 64 cm³ · 96 cm³
Answer: 64 cm³
Volume = length × width × height = 4 × 4 × 4 = 64 cm³.
3. A cube has edges 10 cm long. What is its volume?
Options: 600 cm³ · 1,000 cm³ · 30 cm³ · 100 cm³
Answer: 1,000 cm³
Volume = edge × edge × edge = 10 × 10 × 10 = 1,000 cm³.
Who it's for
Who uses it
Maths teachers
Practice on volume formulas, with nothing to draw.
Learners
Use cross-section area × length for every prism.
Tutors
Check units: cm³ for volume, not cm².
Good to know
What to consider
- Shapes are described in words; there are no diagrams.
- Level 1 is cubes and cuboids, level 2 prisms and cylinders, level 3 decimals and missing lengths.
- Surface area is not included.
Questions
About the Volume Quiz Generator
Does it include spheres and cones?
Not yet: cuboids, prisms and cylinders only.
How do I know the answers are right?
The questions are computed, not written by AI: each answer is worked out with exact arithmetic and checked again by a separate solver in our tests. Every question shows its worked solution after the learner checks their answers.
Can my students use it without an account?
Yes. Publish the Room and share the link: anyone with it can take the quiz, check their answers and read the worked solutions. You need a free account to keep and publish the Room.
