Worked example
What it makes
Three questions from a medium quiz on ratios, with the answers and worked solutions the quiz shows after checking.
1. Share 88 in the ratio 7:1. How much is the first share?
Options: 12.57 · 11 · 88 · 77
Answer: 77
7 + 1 = 8 parts. One part is 88 ÷ 8 = 11. The first share is 7 × 11 = 77.
2. Simplify the ratio 24:32.
Options: 6:8 · 3:5 · 3:4 · 4:3
Answer: 3:4
Both numbers divide by 8: 24 ÷ 8 = 3, 32 ÷ 8 = 4. So 3:4.
3. Share 130 in the ratio 7:6. How much is the first share?
Options: 70 · 18.57 · 60 · 120
Answer: 70
7 + 6 = 13 parts. One part is 130 ÷ 13 = 10. The first share is 7 × 10 = 70.
