- Works as you type
Business carbon footprint
Total for these sources
23.9 t CO₂e
Scope 1: fuel you burn (heating and vehicles)
12.9 t CO₂e
Scope 2: electricity (location-based)
8.0 t CO₂e
Scope 3: business flights
3.0 t CO₂e
- Emissions for each source = activity × the emission factor you enter (kg CO₂e per unit).
- Kilograms are converted to tonnes (÷ 1,000) and grouped by scope.
- Scope 1 = heating fuel + vehicle fuel; scope 2 = electricity; flights are part of scope 3.

How it's calculated
- Emissions for each source = activity × the emission factor you enter (kg CO₂e per unit).
- Kilograms are converted to tonnes (÷ 1,000) and grouped by scope.
- Scope 1 = heating fuel + vehicle fuel; scope 2 = electricity; flights are part of scope 3.
- Assumes: The default factors are placeholders so the calculator shows a result: replace them with the current published factors for your country, year and fuel.
- Assumes: Electricity uses one grid-average (location-based) factor; a market-based figure using your supplier's factor can differ.
- Assumes: Only four sources are covered: most businesses' largest emissions are elsewhere in scope 3 (purchased goods, commuting, waste) and are not estimated here.
- Assumes: Flight factors vary with distance and cabin class, and some include an uplift for non-CO₂ effects: use one source of factors consistently.

- It covers four sources only, not your full scope 3 footprint, and is not a verified report.
Questions
About the Business Carbon Footprint Estimator
Where do emission factors come from?
Governments and reporting bodies publish conversion factors each year, by country and fuel. Use one published set consistently and note which year you used.
Can I share the calculator with my team or a client?
