Worked example
What it makes
Three questions from a easier quiz on percentage increase and decrease, with the answers and worked solutions the quiz shows after checking.
1. Decrease 40 by 25%.
Options: 15 · 30 · 10 · 50
Answer: 30
25% of 40 is 40 × 25 ÷ 100 = 10. 40 − 10 = 30.
2. Increase 190 by 10%.
Options: 200 · 19 · 171 · 209
Answer: 209
10% of 190 is 190 × 10 ÷ 100 = 19. 190 + 19 = 209.
3. Increase 90 by 20%.
Options: 108 · 18 · 110 · 72
Answer: 108
20% of 90 is 90 × 20 ÷ 100 = 18. 90 + 18 = 108.

- Wrong options include dividing by the new amount instead of the original.
- Levels are difficulty bands, not school grades or a curriculum.
Questions
About the Percentage Change Quiz Generator
What are reverse percentages?
Working back to the original after a change: if something is 120 after a 20% rise, the original was 120 ÷ 1.2 = 100, not 120 minus 20%.
How do I know the answers are right?
The questions are computed, not written by AI: each answer is worked out with exact arithmetic and checked again by a separate solver in our tests. Every question shows its worked solution after the learner checks their answers.
Can my students use it without an account?
Yes. Publish the Room and share the link: anyone with it can take the quiz, check their answers and read the worked solutions. You need a free account to keep and publish the Room.
