What it makes
13 questions across 5 areas. Each answer scores 0 to 3; an area's score is its points as a share of the most it could get.
Obligations and policy
- You've confirmed which customer due diligence rules apply to your business, with qualified advice where needed.
- A written policy says which checks you do, for which customers, and who owns it.
Identity verification
- Each new customer's identity is verified from reliable, independent sources at the point your rules require.
- For business customers, you identify who owns or controls them.
- Checks follow the same documented steps whoever does them.
Risk assessment
- Each customer gets a risk rating from agreed factors, such as customer type, location, product and channel.
- Higher-risk customers get extra checks and senior sign-off.
- Customers are screened against the sanctions and other lists your rules require.
Ongoing monitoring
- Customer details and risk ratings are reviewed on a schedule set by risk.
- Unusual activity is flagged and escalated through a known route.
Records and training
- Records of checks and decisions are kept securely for as long as your rules require and can be found quickly.
- Staff who onboard customers are trained, with regular refreshers.
- The process is reviewed independently from time to time.

No. It's a self-check of common good practice in customer onboarding, not legal or compliance advice. Your obligations depend on your country, sector and licences.
Is this an audit or a certification?
No. It scores your own answers against a written rubric to show where you stand and what to do next. Use it to start a conversation, not as an audit, certification or professional advice.
